Laser eye surgery 2 years on - what can I expect

Published on 14th March 2013

After you have undergone your laser eye treatment, we will see you regularly for the following 12 months to keep a check on your prescription and your eyes.

After you have been discharged, we strongly recommend that you still have your eyes tested every two years. It is very, very unusual for a patient to have undergone treatment and then for their eyesight to deteriorate many years later (unless it is due to the natural aging of your eyes know as presbyopia were you develop the need for reading / near vision glasses).

If however, this does happen it is potentially possible to have further treatment but you would need to be assessed to determine this.

All eye surgical procedures carry a level of risk including not obtaining the desired outcome, through to varying levels of visual loss. Your eye surgeon will discuss the risks and benefits, including ones specific to your circumstances, at the time of your pre-operative consultation.
