I am an avid Sky Diver. How long after laser eye surgery would I have to wait for my first dive?

Published on 9th January 2012

We would generally recommend refraining from such an activity for four weeks after your treatment.

You obviously wear protective eye goggles when you sky dive and the activity itself isn't an issue, but you really mustn't rub your eyes for a period of time after treatment whilst your eyes heal and settle.

Therefore, anything that would make you more inclined to want to rub your eyes ought to be avoided for a short period of time. This can be clarified by your treating doctor at your consultation.

All eye surgical procedures carry a level of risk including not obtaining the desired outcome, through to varying levels of visual loss. Your eye surgeon will discuss the risks and benefits, including ones specific to your circumstances, at the time of your pre-operative consultation.
