Should I wait until after my summer holidays before having my eyes lasered?

Published on 22nd April 2014

The thought of being able to go on holiday without being loaded down with contact lenses, contact lens solutions, glasses, prescription sunglasses etc is very appealing.

Being able to swim and see clearly with no glasses or contact lenses is something that is often joyfully commented on by patients after they have had their laser eye treatment.

Once you've had your treatment, you do need to avoid chlorinated water (and the sea) for a good couple of weeks, though you should always check the specifics with your treating doctor

Your eyes may also be slightly sensitive to the sun so a good pair of sunglasses are recommended.

It is possible to fly within a day or two following your laser eye surgery, though this will depend to a degree on the type of treatment you are having.

So, there is still time to get your eyes lasered and be free of your glasses & contact lenses before you hit the beach. To arrange a consultation, contact us in our Bolton or Manchester Clinics on (01204) 387467.

All eye surgical procedures carry a level of risk including not obtaining the desired outcome, through to varying levels of visual loss. Your eye surgeon will discuss the risks and benefits, including ones specific to your circumstances, at the time of your pre-operative consultation.
