Why You Should Consider Laser Eye Surgery

Published: 27th Sep 2010

Laser treatment should be an easy decision
Lasik eye surgery is an incredible advancement in the field of vision correction. Once people learn about the methods used in the procedure and the many benefits that it offers, it will likely be an easy decision to make to undergo laser eye correction.

Surgery is easy and fast
One of the most attractive reasons is the ease and speed with which the procedure is completed. You can go and have either one or both of your eyes done and go home almost immediately after the procedure is completed. The actual reshaping of the eye using the laser only takes a few minutes and after you rest briefly, you can be on your way. The results are different for some patients, but most report that they have vastly improved vision in just a few hours.

Get both eyes treated at once for less
Depending on your situation, there may be an economic benefit to having laser eye surgery. For most people, once the procedure has been completed they don't need to have it done again. In a small percentage of cases, an additional treatment is required after a period of time but this is both rare and simple to undergo. If you compare this with a lifetime of purchasing contact lenses or eyeglasses it can end up being much less expensive. When you consider the amount of time you save by not having to worry about vision correction options it can be hard to quantify the benefit.

We can correct long and short sighted as well as astigmatism
Each patient is different, but in many cases people will be able to experience vision that is nearly perfect. It is possible for people to have laser eye correction done for vision problems including nearsightedness and farsightedness. It is also now possible to correct astigmatism using laser eye surgery and more and more people now have the procedure available to them.

If you are older, you may still need glasses occasionally
There are certain cases where people who have Lasik eye surgery procedures done will still need to use glasses. As we age, some people will develop presbyopia which will require the use of reading glasses when viewing things that are very close to your eyes. Even so, the freedom that a laser eye treatment can provide you is one of the best things you can ever do for yourself.
