There are now options that eliminate the use of a microkeratome to create the flap on the outside of the eye. Some people are more comfortable having a procedure that is done entirely with laser and this is now available. Other advancements in technology have included the ability of the lasers to track small movements in the eye and it meant the number of successful procedures has increased.
