The article on the Marie Claire website back in March 2009 about the risks of laser eye surgery definitely rings true.
The opening statement of the article states: 'People may not be properly advised on the risks of laser eye surgery and might pay more than the advertised price, a Which? study suggests.'
As a private, independent laser eye clinic based in Bolton, near Manchester, we are not the subject of a lot of the marketing hype that is sometimes associated with laser eye treatment. We ensure our patients get the level of pre and post surgery care that they need and expect from a leading clinic. We've gone through a few of the points and responded with the following statements:
We always ensure that the potential patient has a consultation with their treating surgeon, thus establishing a relationship before a decision to proceed is made.
We have a very detailed consent form clearly outlining the possible (however small) risks & complications.
